"I’ve accomplished a lot for the people of Cook and Kane Counties over the past several years, but there’s still so much more to do," Noland said. "We’re coming out of the worst recession in recent memory, but there are still a lot of people out of work. The state and private business leaders must continue to work together to put an end to this economic downturn." Last year, Noland proposed and passed the Small Business Job Creation Tax Credit, which encouraged employers to hire more full-time workers for well-paid jobs. He sponsored a number of other economic development bills that did not achieve final passage. He plans to continue working on these plans and others to create more jobs in the northwest suburbs. Noland also will continue working to improve conditions for school students. Last year, he spearheaded a push to redefine Elgin School District U-46 as a Cook County district, winning it millions of dollars in state funding that it rightfully deserved. "Getting additional funding for U-46 is a big step in the right direction," Noland said. "It righted a longstanding wrong. But, it’s not a silver bullet. I hope parents and school leaders will continue to work with me to provide better conditions for our children." Noland sees the new 97th General Assembly as an opportunity to revive ideas that needed more time to develop and to build closer relationships with the people who live in his community. "A legislator depends on the people who live in his district," Noland said. "I’ve worked hard to make myself available to everyone in the community, and I will continue to do so. I hope the people throughout the communities that I serve know they can turn to me for help."
